Opt In Subscription ListsPrintable

WCSRA does it's best to keep membership informed in several ways:

  1. What's New on the home page
  2. monthly Chapter meetings
  3. electronic communications (ie. Email)
What's New and monthly Chapter meetings are passive communication mechanisms, in that they require that the Member take an action to see them (meaning, the Member has to actually GO and look or listen).

Electronic Communication (Email) is more active as it can cause informational messages to simply arrive at a Member's Email Inbox. However, it's important that the Email is directed properly and is not considered unwanted Email by the Recipient. To satisfy this desire, WCSRA has implemented an OptIn Subscription List mechanism on it's site to permit each Member to control what sort of Electronic Communication they'd like and, in fact, where it should be delivered.

How to Opt In

The act of subscribing is simple. Click to Services: Subscription and check ON the intersection points for the various WCSRA Lists and where you'd like the communications sent, click Update. Each List has a general name (e.g. Administration) with a short description for the types of (E)Mail that will be sent to it. IF you WOULD LIKE to receive these communications in your Site Mail and/or Email, simply check on where it should go (yes, you can select multiple).

If you DO NOT want to receive (E)Mail from the list, simply leave the intersecting checkboxes unchecked. You will still be able to see any messages that have been sent to the List under Services: Subscription on the site (until they expire...normally a week).

Miscellaneous

There are a few additional aspects of Subscription Lists that you may have an interest in.

Mail
If you have an Assignment AND the Match has a significant change made to it (e.g. Date, Time, Field change), your Assignment will be changed to Status=Unconfirmed and you will be sent a Site based Mail message telling you that the change has occurred.

IF you would ALSO like that message to be sent to a real Email address, simply subscribe that Email address to List=Mail.

Cellular Phones
Many cellular phone services (etc.) permit Email sent to encoded Email addresses to be automatically converted into Text Messages and sent via the Wireless network to the Cellular Phone itself. If you would like to receive messages for a specific List on your Cellular Phone as a Text message, simply place the Cellular Phone encoded Email address into one of your available Profile Email addresses and subscribe that Email address to the desired list.
  • Verizon is 3605551111@vtext.com
  • ATT is 3605551111@txt.att.net

where 3605551111 is your own Cellular Phone number.

The various WCSRA Officers, Directors, and Assignors have access to the Bulk Mail mechanisms that deliver Electronic Communications. They make efforts to use the tools wisely and are increasingly relying on Subscription Lists. If YOU want to receive Electronic Communications from WCSRA and these folks, you MUST set up your Opt In Subscriptions correctly. By definition, you are NOT subscribed to any of the Lists until you take an action to become subscribed (hence the name Opt In instead of Opt Out).

Help us become more effective at communicating in a positive and efficient way. Subscribe now, as you believe is appropriate.
